Tsurugajo Castle

Tsurugajo Castle, known as the great impregnable castle, withstood the fierce attack of the new government military in the Boshin War for one full month, and did not fall. It was in 1874 when the castle was demolished, leaving only its stone walls. It was built in 1384 as the residence of Naomori Ashina, and made into the highly renowned castle after numerous renovations.
